The Passionate Voices that Fuel my Journey: 31 Days of Inspiration

When Cousin Nan suggests you write for 31 days - well, it makes me want to write for 31 days!. Nan is one great daring adventure after another. She is my cousin, a mother to two daughters and three grand children. She is an entrepreneur, landlord, author and encourager of many such blog challenges. She is a fierce warrior for Christ and loves sharing the Gospel in word and deed. I imagine that being in her orbit day after day is magnificent. I only see her on occasion - but there is a quiet magnetism that gets me every time I think about her. And so I find myself accepting her challenge.

When I began to think what would inspire me to try writing for 31 days, I began to think of the many sources of my inspiration. - Also, I think of those things that continue to inspire me. Inspiration comes in many forms - people I have known in person and people I have known only from their writings, momentary events and even places - and often a combination of all three.

Awareness of the life we are living and the ways we are impacted doesn't usually enter our minds until someone suggests that we take the time to notice. For me, a greater self-awareness began happening at the onset of my teenage years when I began to write poetry and was encouraged to journal. My ninth grade English teacher, Mrs. Robinson, required a daily journal as part of our curriculum. She was extremely encouraging of my writings and felt a particular freedom in writing that I found nowhere else. It would be many years later that I would engage in journaling that altered my life - but I am getting ahead of my self.

For the month of March I will be introducing you to people, places and words that nourish my soul, catapult my dreams, and in many ways have saved my life. Often we are reminded that we see further because we stand on the shoulders of giants. While this may be true, sometimes inspiration is found in the more obscure, brief, and unknown sources that give us a glimpse into worlds we will never know. - And, I believe we will be richer, all our days, for having spent some time on our knees seeking that which can be found no other way.

I hope you'll join me as I reminisce and re-acquaint myself with these voices - many from the past, some from the present, and others, eternally here and now.

With Joy in the Journey
