Ray Brilli - Artistic Treasure

I recently visited the Farmer’s Market at the Amphitheater in St. Augustine FL. It is one of the most diverse and interesting farmer’s markets ever! I love it and have returned every time I am in St. Augustine on a Saturday.

Of course, one of the highlights are the artists that sell their work. Years ago, I met and became friends with Ray Brilli. I probably first collected his work in the early 2000’s. I introduced him to my photographer son, David Paul and they hit it off. David Paul helped him with a banner for his website and market booth and they have become good friends. Recently, David Paul and his wife, Jordan welcomed their first baby into this world and into a nursery decorated with art from Ray Brilli!

Ray hails from Queens New York where he attended the High School for Art & Design, Hunter College and The School of Visual Arts where he studied Fine Art, Graphic Design and Color Theory. His family heritage is Venice Italy where he returns for European inspiration. Living in St. Augustine also lends itself to an Old world flavor, as the oldest city is full of historic cobblestone streets and open air cafes reminiscent of European cities.

Ray has won numerous awards for his art in Florida. His vibrant, color-saturated, impressionistic style is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. His friendly demeanor to everyone that visits his market booth will draw you in. The art will capture your heart and mind.

Ray’s ability to create a moment in time on canvas is famous, and even a drydocked boat becomes romantic when under the spell of Ray’s brushwork. From historic streets bathed in an afternoon glow, to swaying palms over azure waters, to Venice in all it’s glorious, golden sunset light, Ray’s work is delightful for eye and heart.

When in St. Augustine on a Saturday morning stop by for a hello and a feast for the eyes. You will not be disappointed!

Artfully Yours,

Charlotte
